We are very happy to see many images with some innovative interpretation of the monthly theme. It was a tough and exciting job for us to choose the best ones from so many great images.
It is with great pleasure that we announce our 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners along with 8 other honorable mentions.
We also have 12 special mentions this time – The Mentor’s Choice images have been chosen by our Guest Mentor Rammy Narula.
So here is the result… The winner is – Marylise Vigneau !
[In-Street Review] The act of dreaming is about getting access to a magical realm where the laws of reality don’t apply anymore. You may be able to fly in your dreams or slay dragons. The only limits to one’s dreams are that of your imagination which by default is limitless. Dreams can be soothing, nightmarish, funny, frightening and so can images which channel this inner dimension. Marylise’s image channels that world beautifully and in a very subtle and tender way. When chancing upon her image, we first come across this figure with a pot in her hands and she begs us to ask questions. Is she real? Where did she come from? What is she doing here? Then, we see the sleeping figure at the bottom of the frame and they open the door to many interpretations. Is the sleeper dreaming of the woman? Or is the woman potter protecting the sleeper? Are they actually dreaming of each other? This image is wonderful interpretation of our theme enhanced by the subtle light, the warm tones and the lovely background.
Second place goes to Ilan Ben Yehuda !
Third place goes to Subrata Dey !
And these are the 12 Mentor’s Choice images !
[Guest Mentor’s Review] First of all, I’d like to thank the team at In-Street for inviting me to join this wonderful group as a guest moderator for a couple of weeks. Things have changed quite a bit last few weeks and the World is now a bit more challenging to live in. Street Photography is going to be tougher to do for a while as well and suddenly what we have done will come into great reflection. It may also be a good time to spend looking back into our own archives and see what gems we can discover. Sort of like a look back into our own visual diary. See how far we’ve come, and learn something new about ourselves that we may have missed. I had a difficult time picking my favorite photos for the “dream” theme we had over the 2 weeks I spent with you all. Not because there weren’t good photographs but because they were so many. I decided to pick a group of photographs that I felt represented the feeling of a dream, and ones that I thought meshed together well when seen as a group. They take you on a journey and go somewhere you may have not been before. I value that quality in street photography very much and is why I love the genre. I hope everyone enjoyed the process as much as I did. I look forward to future opportunities to interact with all the members again. If not in the group, then elsewhere. Good luck to everyone. Stay safe and don’t forget to practice social distancing. Health officials need our contribution now more than ever, so we can get through this together and become even stronger in the face of future challenges. Take care.
Finally, here are other 8 Honorable Mentions !
Many congratulations to all the respective photographers! Cheers! Stay Safe!
